Serendipity is in the air tomorrow, Tuesday, September 9th. And, you'll remember that Woody was our Guest Speaker at our Spring General Meeting last May 19th at New St, Mary's Cathedral.

As Heather Cassell, the leader of tomorrow's Gold Rush Women, reminds us.

"Here is something to add to the Gold Rush Tour attendees' email. SF Heritage is hosting a special virtual lecture about Lotta’s Fountain on the evening after our tour, Tuesday, September 9, 6:30-7:30pm. As you might recall, the tour ends at Lotta’s Fountain."

Join San Francisco Heritage virtually from 6:30-7:30 pm on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, for a special evening program about the history of Lotta’s Fountain.

On September 9, 1875, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of California’s admission to the United States, mayor James Otis unveiled a new public fountain, a gift from entertainer Lotta Crabtree, at the intersection of Market and Kearny Street in downtown San Francisco.

One hundred and fifty years later, Lotta’s Fountain still stands with Gold Rush scenes, sailing ships, and lion heads decorating its cast-iron sides and is recognized as both a city and nationally-designated landmark.
