Me in summer on Alaska's North Slope

While living in Healdsburg and working in Alaska in the 70s, I took that from Sausalito to SFO a few times; also a small plane from SFO to the Santa Rosa airpport.

Long before BART went to SFO, you could catch a ride to the airport in a helicopter

It’s a travel dream I’ve long had: Skip the onerous slog to San Francisco International Airport from my Oakland home by driving just a few minutes to Oakland International Airport and parking there instead. Then, after a short helicopter hop across the bay, I’d arrive at my gate relaxed and ready to fly. No fighting the eternal Bay Bridge traffic or begging a friend to haul me and my luggage to BART.

It was the pinnacle of speedy transbay travel, all for the price of a few dollars, before a 1976 labor dispute shut operations after 15 years. And now, nearly half a century later, the dream may take off again, albeit in a different form. The Federal Aviation Administration recently approved air carrier certification to a company linked to United Airlines that plans to fly electric air taxis to SFO. Archer Aviation outlined its service network and plans to build new ports connecting South San Francisco, Napa, San Jose, Livermore and, in the center of the map, Oakland.

"60 Minutes" aired a recent episode regarding the Air Taxis within the trial stages.  Lovely shot captured, of the air taxi flying past the GG 🌉!   Ready for the Jetsons!
