Castro Night Market organizers say the monthly event has "become a real neighborhood moment" for residents and businesses in the district.
Business owners and community leaders in the Castro say that the neighborhood is alive with purpose and energy as it continues adding to its history of uplifting and supporting LGBTQ+ communities.
New neighborhood events have given local businesses and artists additional ways of engaging with residents of the area and The City alike. Castro fixtures who spoke with The Examiner said the neighborhood’s successes are reminders of why such places are important and that they will use the coming months to continue drawing others to the storied neck of the woods.
San Franciscans have flocked in recent months to the neighborhood for the Castro Night Market, an event that takes place on the third Friday of every month along 18th Street. CG Events co-founder Chris Carrington, whose event
logistics and production company organizes the Castro’s night market, said that his business has been “thrilled by how warmly the community has embraced” the event since it first launched last October.
