When the pet supply company Pet Food Express went looking for property for a third San Francisco store, one spot in the Presidio stood out for the beautiful bayfront setting and the many, many dog walkers passing by.
“The amount of people and pets walking past the building was a very unique opportunity that we couldn’t pass up,” said Tom Urtz, the company’s chief operating officer, of the chosen site between Crissy Field and the Marina Green. “It is like a dog paradise along that beautiful stretch of land.”
In planting its newest flagship in a newly rehabilitated complex of buildings on Old Mason Street, the Concord-based company joined several other new entrants and bolstered the ranks of tenants that have made the former U.S. Army base one of the strongest commercial real-estate locations in The City.
