GUEST SPEAKERS |
| |
» |
HENRY THOMPSON, ASSISTANT DEPUTY AIRPORT DIRECTOR, SFO. He spoke in response to President Driscoll’s recent letter. All airports have been hit financially in recent years, but SFO has been hit the hardest in the country, with revenues down about 8 million dollars since the year 2000. However, customer service is still a priority. Recent improvements include Terminal 3 baggage handling as well as improvements in customer amenities, with travel information available at least the part of each day with the highest traffic level. Travelers Aid is staffed by volunteers on the departure level. In Terminal 1 there will be a new bridge connecting to the garage. The upper level viaduct is being strengthened which will cause some traffic difficulties. |
| |
Terminal 2 is not needed now because off the loss of revenue. Courtyards 2 and 3 will not re-open to private vehicles. There are plans to re-locate the arrival meeting areas in Terminal 3. The International Terminal is still being studied. |
| |
Emergency procedures are in place utilizing runners in case of a disaster, in the event that public address systems don’t work. |
